This website is dedicated to the memory of my mother, Donna Jean Holmgren, who succumbed to her battle with Pancreatic cancer on April 11, 2002.  It is our sincere hope and prayer to keep alive her sparkling spirit of enthusiasm and optimism, her childlike joy in the natural world, her love, acceptance and empathy for all individuals.

Her life exemplified what it means to be truly kind, thoughtful, sympathetic and Christian.  Her death reminds us to live our dreams today...not tomorrow, not next year, not when we have more money, not when the kids are grown.

Cherish your friends and family, enjoy the moments as they happen, be nice, be happy, be passionate.  Smell the flowers, feed the birds, kiss your children.  Donna would want it that way.

The Queen's Court

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our friends and family members who have helped us and believed in us.  We could not have done this without your help.  Please accept our gratitude, and consider yourselves lifelong members of our 'royal family.;

Bill and Edna Davis - Thanks for everything, and for being amongst the first to fall in love with the Queen.

The Village People - Thanks to our former neighbors in Lakewood Village.  We miss you like crazy.  You are irreplaceable.

Laurie Larson - A devoted sister if there ever was one.  There may be a few more duets in us yet!

Jay Holmgren - Thanks for catching the spirit of the Queen.

Robert Holmgren, Royal Skeptic - The only "reality-based" person in the family.  We love you, Dad.

Uncle Jim Holmgren - Thank you for your superb taste and high standards, your energy and can-do attitude. You've saved the day more than once...

Cary Davis - Thanks for "taking the reins" and "holding down the fort".

Joyce and Leo Kennedy - The first to answer the royal summons and pay the price for it.

The Hazelbrook Avenue Summertime Bible Study Group, especially Sally McGhee, Susan Montgomery and Dawn Decker.

Kit Cassingham - The B and B Lady.  Truly the best friend we've never met.  Don't even THINK about buying a bed and breakfast without consulting with her at Sage Blossom Consulting.

Bryan McCourt - Real estate agent, gentleman, scholar.  Should be used as a model for all others in his field.  Hereafter referred to as "our Bryan."

Peter Goldfarb - Thanks for the advice, lectures, warnings and for testing our commitment to this venture.  You will always be the "old pro" in the valley  and the one who sets the bar for the rest of us.

Kim Straka, The Woman Who Makes Things Happen - We think of her as the Royal Tornado.

Vernon Stevens - The strength and energy of two men half his age.  We are so very glad you found us.

Also, thanks to all the members of the Tulip Valley Bed and Breakfast Association, the La Conner Chamber of Commerce, and all our wonderful new friends and neighbors in La Conner.  You've all made us feel as if we've landed in Paradise!
